Update instructions
If you are currently using the old server software (Spotget / Voddget server) it is recommended that you delete the folder with the old server files before installing the new Spotget Server.


Spotget is an Android app/widget that remote controls Spotify on your Windows or Mac computer.
Spotget Server has to be installed on the computer. Follow the installation instructions below and read the FAQ if you have any questions.


Spotget does not receive any information from your computer. If you want to know what track is playing etc. this is not for you.


Installation instructions (Windows)
  • Download 'SpotgetServer.zip' from Box.net or Google Drive.
  • Unpack the zip file and run 'SpotgetServer.exe'. An icon will show up in the the taskbar notification area (next to the clock).
  • Install Spotget on your Android device. Add it as a widget on your home screen or open it as a regular app.
    You will now see the settings screen.
  • If your Android device is connected to a local network (Wi-Fi), skip to the next step. If not, uncheck the broadcast checkbox and enter your computer's IP address in the first field of the settings screen.
    • Right click on the Spotget Server icon in the notification area and click on 'Lookup remote IP address'. If you are behind a router you have to forward the port (defaults to 7353). Read more: http://portforward.com/
  • Press 'Save'.

Installation instructions (Mac OSX)
  • Download 'SpotgetServer.dmg' from Google Drive or Box.net.
  • Open the dmg file and drag 'Spotget Server.app' into the Applications folder.
  • Go into the Applications folder and open 'Spotget Server.app'. An icon will show up in the menu bar (next to the clock).
  • Install Spotget on your Android device. Add it as a widget on your home screen or open it as a regular app.
    You will now see the settings screen.

Hints
  • Tap next to the controls to show the settings screen.
  • If you want Spotget Server to autostart when you start your computer:
    • Windows: Add a shortcut to 'SpotgetServer.exe' in the 'Startup' folder in the start menu.
    • OSX: Go to 'System Preferences' > 'Users & Groups' click on 'Login Items' and add 'Spotget Server' to the list.
  • If you want to keep your Wi-Fi connection during sleep, you can change the following setting:
    Wi-Fi settings > Menu > Advanced > 'Wi-Fi sleep policy' or 'Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep'
